Disaster Prevention
Sediment-related Disaster Warning Areas and Sediment-related Disaster Special Warning Areas
Sediment-related disaster hazard areas are designated as sediment-related disaster warning areas.
From among the sediment-related disaster warning areas, the areas that are considered to be in danger of causing damage to buildings resulting in fatalities or severe injuries to the residents are designated as sediment-related disaster special warning areas.
- Landslide (slope failure)
- An area of a slope of 30 degrees or more and the height of which is 5m or more.
- An area that is horizontally within 10 m of the top of a slope
- An area that is horizontally within twice the height of a slope (or 50 m when it exceeds 50 m) of the bottom of a slope
- Debris flow
- An area sloping 2 degrees or more from the start point of flooding to the downstream along a mountain stream which is likely to cause a debris flow
An area in which the force that is applied to a building by movement, etc. of sediment caused by slope failure exceeds the force that a normal building can withstand the movement, etc. of sediment without causing significant damage to the lives or bodies of the residents etc.
